Clifton L. Puckett was born on October 31, 1911 in Annona, Texas. He was the son of James Lafayette Puckett and Minnie Jane Williams Puckett. Clifton served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Private First Class during World War II. On February 24, 1945, he was wounded by enemy rifle fire and died the next day aboard a hospital ship enroute to Manila, Philippines. PFC Puckett is now buried in the Terrace Cemetery, Post, Garza County, Texas, USA. He was one of the American paratroopers who fought successfully on Battle for the Recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison in February 1945.
