Shinyei Nakamine was born on February 26, 1920 in Waianae, Hawaii. He served as a Private in the US Army, B Company, 100th Battalion, 34th Infantry Division at La Torreto, Italy. During an attack on June 2, 1944, his platoon became pinned down by enemy machinegun fire. He charged forward, killed three Germans and captured two in taking out the machinegun nest. Later in the day, he led another attack that took out another machinegun nest. Spotting a third machinegun emplacement, he led another charge and was killed. He and 21 other Asian American Veterans were recognized by President Clinton at a White House Ceremony on June 21, 2000.

PVT Nakamine died on June 2, 1944 and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
