Douglas Robert Withers, Jr. was born on January 3, 1945 at port Angeles, Washington. He was the son of Jeffrey Kevin Withers and Alisa Joy Withers. Douglas served in the US Army Air Forces as a Major. On March 23, 1981, Major Douglas R. Withers, pilot, and Capt. William D. Alcorn of the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem crashed into the Hesselberg near Gerolfingen in Germany. Both crewmembers were killed. Major Withers is now buried in the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado.
