Gail Minglana Martinez was born on June 4, 1974. She was married to USAAF Lt. Col. Melchizedek "Kato" Martinez and had four children: Kianni, Kimo, Noelani and Kailani. Gail was a graduate of Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi.

On March 22, 2016, the Martinez family was at the airport in Brussels. Kato was just back from Afghanistan. He, along with Gail and their four children, were going on a much-needed vacation. Kato was walking back toward the check-in line where Gail and the children were standing with the luggage when it happened: ISIS suicide attackers detonated two suitcase bombs.

Kato was reportedly sent to the intensive care unit, while the children suffered burns in the attack, which, along with a bomb blast in the Brussels' metro system, left 35 people dead and 300 wounded. Unfortunately, Gail was one of those who were killed. She is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA.
