Robert Frank Miltner was born on January 1, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Henry Miltner and Lucinda Atkinson Miltner. Sgt. Miltner was in the advertising business in Philadelphia before he entered the service in 1943. He served as a waist gunner on a bomber and was shot down on March 17, 1944 in a raid over Germany. He survived the crash, made his way to Zurich, Switzerland, where he died. He was temporarily buried in what was then the American Cemetery in Münsingen, Switzerland. He is now buried in the Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.
