Russell Harris entered the military service in Texas. He served in the 407th Bomber Squadron, 92nd Bomber Group, Heavy as a Sergeant during World War II. SGT Harris was the right waist gunner on B-17 42-31921 "Lil� Brat", which on April 24, 1944 headed to Dubendorf, Switzerland for a target mission. They were shot down by an enemy aircraft and crashed to Baltenswil, near Munich and scrapped. He was Killed in Action and was temporarily buried in what was then the American Cemetery in M�nsingen, Switzerland. He is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinoz�, France.
