Leonard Joseph �Leo� Hoffman, Jr. was born on March 31, 1924 in Pennsylvania to Leonard Joseph Hoffman and Madge M. Thompson Hoffman. He was a high school graduate who attended A State Teacher�s College. He served in the 68th Bomb Squadron, 44th Bombardment Group as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. SSGT Hoffman was the Left Waist Gunner on B-24 #42-110049 "Mary Harriet" when he was Killed in Action when his chute failed to open on July 21, 1944. The plane was damaged by a flak in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany and landed in Switzerland. He was temporarily buried in what was then the American Cemetery in M�nsingen, Switzerland. His final resting place is in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, USA.
