John Hanlon was born in 1923 and was from New York. He served in the 4th Tank Battalion, Combat Command B of the 1st Armored Division. He fell on April 24, 1945 while liberating the town of Cadelbosco di Sopra. A memorial park in the town. remembers his sacrifice. From Find a Grave: John served as a Private, 4th Tank Battalion, 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 26, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed as a routemen and also as Single, without dependents. He was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart. Service # 32840234
