Riley Wayne “Bud” Cannon was born on March 5, 1925 in Royse City, Texas. He attended grade school there and high school in Rockwall. With his family, he came to Dallas in 1941 to live. He was employed at the Baker Hotel Garage until he entered the Armed Forces in September 1943.

Riley served in the 8th Army Air Force Service Company as a Corporal during World War II. He died in a forced landing crash in Donegal, Ireland, on June 19, 1944. He was part of a crew en route to join the Eighth Air Force in England. He was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. CPL Cannon is buried now in the Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA.
