Algie M. Hill was born in California. He served in the 310th Ferry Squadron, 27th Air Transport Group as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of the P-38J #44-23635 aircraft during World War II. 2LT Hill was Killed in Action on August 14, 1944, when his plane spun in trailing smoke and crashed shortly after takeoff from Langford Lodge, Northern Ireland on a ferry flight to Burtonwood, England. His remains were buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England but the cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. 2LT Hill is buried now in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
