When Leonard Lavern Joslin was born on August 16, 1924, in Pembroke, New York, his father, Lavern, was 27 and his mother, Jennie, was 24. In 1943 at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army to serve in World War II. He died on May 6, 1944, in Northern Ireland at the age of 19. T5 Joslin was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. He is buried now in the North Pembroke Cemetery, New York, USA. His name is listed on the Lisnabreeny Former American Cemetery monument in Northern Ireland, but his surname is spelled 'Joslyn.'
