Harris Earl McKenzie was born on November 13, 1917 in Essex, Vermont. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 31, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents. Harris served as a Technical Sergeant, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident on September 30, 1944, at the age of 26, in Ireland. His remains was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. SGT McKenzie is buried now in the Fairview Cemetery, Essex Junction, Chittenden County, Vermont, USA.
