Herbert E. Montgomery was born on September 1, 1916. He was the son of John E. Montgomery and Flo Donovan Montgomery. Herbert served in the 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division as a Private during World War II. He died on May 23, 1944, at the age of 27, and was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. PVT Montgomery is buried now in the Raymond Cemetery, Raymond, Union County, Ohio, USA.
