Francis A. Murphy was born on November 1, 1903. He was the son of John J. Murphy and Susan A. Murphy. Francis served in the 465th Service Squadron as a Captain during World War II. He died on October 6, 1944, at the age of 40, and was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. CPT Murphy is buried now in the Saint Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, Lancaster, Erie County, New York, USA.
