Discharged after World War I on April 2, 1919 at Camp Upton, New York, he re-enlisted in the Army prior to World War II on November 24, 1940 in Rochester. He served as a Master Sergeant in the Headquarters Battalion, 209th Coast Artillery Anti-aircraft Unit, U.S. Army during World War II.

MSGT Rosenberg died in the service in Northern Ireland; cause unknown. He was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. He is buried now in the Britton Road Cemetery, Greece, Monroe County, New York, USA.
