James A. Wilkerson was born on June 4, 1920. He served in the 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division as a Private during World War II. He died on July 4, 1942, at the age of 22, in Northern Ireland and was buried first in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. PVT Wilkerson is buried now in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery, Greer, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, USA.
