Edward F. Cahill was born on May 19, 1918, in California. He was the son of Edward Gustav Cahill and Elvira Wormwood Hobbs Cahill. He served in the 382nd Fighter Squadron as a First Lieutenant during World War II. Pilot of the B-5 #43-6332, he was Killed in Action whis his plane crashed after it spun out due to bad weather, 50 miles, east of Colchester, Essex, England, in the North Sea. His remains were never found and he was declared Missing in Action on April 15, 1944. 1LT Cahill's name is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
