When Robert Harry Sovern was born on February 15, 1922, in Michigan, his father, Elmer, was 25 and his mother, Lois, was 20. He had four brothers and three sisters. Robert served in the 379th Fighter Squadron, 362 Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was killed in air action over Luxembourg and crashed near Eschette on January 25, 1945. 2LT Sovern is now buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA.
