Elwood Charles Schaefer was born on May 27, 1920 in Brenham, Texas. He was the son of Otto Schaefer and Tillie Schaefer. He served in the 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division as a Corporal during World War II. CPL Schaefer died on January 22, 1945 and is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg. He was one of the 38 American soldiers killed during the fierce fighting at sub-zero temperatures to recapture the town of Hoscheid, Luxembourg.
