Kenneth O. “Kenny” Eslick was born on November 30, 1918 in Whitefish, Montana. He was the son of Paul Herbert Eslick and Myrtle Carpenter Eslick. he served in the 341st Bomb Squadron, 97th Bomb Group as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. Left waist gunner of the B-17 #42-3147 "Homesick Angel", he survived the crash when their plane was shot down during a bombing raid over Istres, France. The wreck of their B-17 was discovered when the lake was dried up in the 60's. SSGT Eslick was sent to Stalag 17B and survived the war after. He died on May 18, 1998, at the age of 79 in his hometown and is now buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Bigfork, Flathead County, Montana, USA.
