Arman Peterson was born on May 20, 1915 in Thatcher, Arizona. He was the son of Andrew Christian Peterson and Eleanor Jane Junetta Post Peterson. He served as a Colonel in the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group during World War II and called his Thunderbolt “Flagari”. Col. Peteserson was the first CO of 78th Fighter Group and was killed in action on July 1, 1943 on the day the group had destroyed four FW 190s, and damaged five others. He was shot down over Holland and is now buried in the Thatcher Cemetery, Thatcher, Graham County, Arizona, USA.
