When Maynard Allen Faux was born on April 20, 1925, in Kendallville, Indiana, his father, George, was 23 and his mother, Wilma, was 18. He had one sister.

Maynard served in the 337th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Radio Operator on the B17 #44-6137 "The Abortion Queen" aircraft during World War II. On January 29, 1945, while attempting assembly into a bomber stream scheduled to raid the marshalling railway yards at Bielefeld, Germany, his aircraft collided with that of Lt. Alex Phillipovich. Both aircraft exploded and crashed approximately 1/2 miles southeast of the airdrome. All 18 crew members aboard the 2 aircrafts were killed. SGT Faux is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
