Jesse Eugene Gregory was born in Colquitt, Georgia, on April 8, 1924. He was enrolled at Clemson University in the Class of 1945, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was single, without dependents, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at Miami Beach, Florida, on February 26, 1943. After training, he was assigned as the bombardier on the crew of Charlton A. Deuschle, in the 838th Bomb Squadron of the 487th Bomb Group at Lavenham, England. He was killed in action on August 5, 1944, when B-17G 43-38007 was shot down by flak and crashed near Magdeburg, Germany. He is now buried in the Colquitt City Cemetery, Colquitt, Miller County, Georgia, USA.
