James Adams was a 20-year-old boy from Washington who served aboard the merchant ship Greyhound. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Adams died on November 6, 1814, with chronic cough recorded as his cause of death.
