Robert Adams was a seaman from Marblehead who served aboard the merchant ship Herald. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Adams died on February 5, 1815, with peri pneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
