John Bruce Moore was born in 1919. He was the son of John Bruce Moore and Margaret Moore of Detroit, Michigan, USA. They lived on Cliff Terrace, Seaton Carew and Bruce attended West Hartlepool Grammar. A member of the RAAF at Greatham, Bruce is listed as one of the Hartlepools Lost Aircrew. A wireless operator on board Wellington IV Z1311 he was killed when his plane crashed into the sea off the coast of Belgium killing all seven crew shortly after they took off from Brighton at 2325 on 1 June 1942. The exact location of the wreck and cause of the crash are still unknown. SGT Moore is now buried in the Charleroi Communal Cemetery, Belgium.
