Ralph D. Day was born on April 24, 1922 in Smackover, Union County, Arkansas. He served in the 377th Fighter Squadron, 362nd Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. A P-47 pilot, he was shot down on his 34th mission on July 5, 1944 in France and is now buried in the Forest Park East Cemetery, Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, USA.
