Chester B. Kusi was born on October 3, 1922. He was the son of Leonard Howard Kusi and Julia M. Srydik Kusi. He served in the 379th Fighter Squadron, 362nd Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was killed on January 22, 1945 in Germany on his attempt to bail out from his plane that was on fire. Kusi escaped the cockpit but he was killed during his attempt to jump. He is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
