Jacob Anderson was a 24-year-old seaman from Portland who served aboard the merchant ship Hussar. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Anderson died on January 26, 1815, with phthisis recorded as his cause of death.
