Comments:
James C. Stone was born on October 15, 1921. He served in the 378th Fighter Squadron, 362nd Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. On May 21, 1944, he took off from Station 412 at Headcorn, England on a sweep mission to south-east of France. His plane crashed near Neufchâteau, France due to bad weather when a hill loomed before him; perhaps he stalled in avoiding the ridge. 2LT Stone is now buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, USA.
