Joshua Andrews was a 21-year-old seaman from Ipswich who served aboard the merchant ship David Porter. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Andrews died on November 21, 1814, with fever recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
