Jacob Badson was a 31-year-old seaman from Boston who served aboard the merchant ship Young Dixon. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Badson died on March 22, 1815, with variola recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
