Moses Bailey was a 21-year-old seaman from Pennsylvania who served aboard the merchant ship Scorpion. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Bailey died on February 17, 1815, with variola recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
