John Baldwin was a 24-year-old seaman from Boston who served aboard the merchant ship Fox. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Baldwin died on December 5, 1814, with pneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
