Uriah W. Miller was born on December 2, 1918, in Waseca, Minnesota. He was the son of Joseph David Miller and Alfa L. Weckwerth Miller. He served in the 554th Bomb Squadron, 386th Bomber Group, Medium, as a First Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of the B-26 #41-31763 RU*O "Cloud Hopper 2nd" during World War II.
Their plane was lost on May 31, 1944 mission to bomb the highway bridge near Rouen, France. The aircraft's left engine was hit by a falling bomb from the high flight. The plane was evacuated by parachute at 11:53am. 1Lt Miller was shot in his chute as he came down over what was then the front lines. Their plane crashed at L'Hermitage near Pont-St-Pierre (49-15N 01-10E).
1Lt Miller is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France.
