Granite William Herrington was born in 1915. He was the son of John W. and Nora Sawyer Herrington; husband of Ruby Rawlins Herrington, of New York City. He served in the 408 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant and Air Gunner during World War II. Flight Sergeant Herrington died on March 30, 1943 and is now buried in the Sage War Cemetery, Germany. He also has a cenotaph located in Graceland Cemetery, Madison, Lake County, South Dakota. He is also commemorated on the Bomber Command Memorial Wall in Nanton, AB.
