John Brissons was a 32-year-old seaman from Baltimore who served aboard the merchant ship Bunker Hill. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Brissons died on January 24, 1815, with phthisis recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
