St Yago Compichi was an 18-year-old seaman from Carthegenia who served aboard the merchant ship President. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Compichi died on January 16, 1815, with variola recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
