Robert Alfred Boock was born on May 15, 1920, in Saint Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota. He was the son of Alfred C. Boock and Helen Madeline Ewart Boock.

Lt. Boock served with the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, and pilot of the P-47 #41-6404 "Old Red Ass." He was a former RAF flyer and one of the first to fly the P-47 Thunderbolt in action. Two of his 3 confirmed kills were gained in Spitfires. Lt. Boock was killed in action while flying over the North Sea. He is listed as Missing in Action on the Tablets of the Missing at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Henri-Chapelle, Belgium.
