Robert H. Homuth was born in 1921 in Ohio. He served in the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant, during World War II. He was piloting the P-51B #43-7032 at the time of his death.
On May 31, 1944, he became separated from the section leader while in climbing turn after entering the cloud. His aircraft crashed at Onkerzele, Belgium. German records indicate that the aircraft had been struck by lightning.
1Lt Homuth is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
