George Harry Logan, Jr. was born on February 25, 1923, in New Jersey. He served in the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

The pilot of the P-51D-10-NA #44-14172 VF-M, on October 2, 1944, he was returning from an escort mission to Hamm, Germany. His aircraft was seen flying erratically at 23,000’ before suddenly pitching nose-up and then diving straight into the ground near Terwolde, Netherlands, disintegrating on impact. Since he did not respond to attempts to reach him via the R/T, it was believed he was incapacitated by an oxygen system failure.

1Lt Logan is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
