Bernard J. Rosenson was born on October 12, 1919, in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. He served in the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

1Lt Rosenson was piloting the P-51 Mustang, type D-5-NA, #44-13567 WD*O, at the time of his death. On August 18, 1944, he took off from Station 356 in Debden, England, on a skip-bombing mission to the Paris area. The flight had just bombed marshaling yards and was strafing vehicles north of La Ferte when about fifty ME109s attacked. In the ensuing battle, several of the Group's P-51s were lost/shot down (including his).

1Lt Rosenson is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France.
