Robert S. "Bob" Tussey was born on December 21, 1921, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served in the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and pilot of the P-51B-15-NA 43-24771 VF-L 'Miss Altoona' during World War II.
1Lt Tussey died on May 11, 1944, in Ramsgate, England. That day, he bailed out of his aircraft over the English Channel. He was picked up by an Air Sea Rescue boat out of Dover and taken to Ramsgate Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
1Lt Tussey is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
