John Davenport was a 25-year-old seaman from East Haven who served aboard the merchant ship Sabine. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Davenport died on June 10, 1815, with dysentery recorded as his cause of death.
