Robert C. Hunter, Jr. was born on October 25, 1922, in Ernest, Pennsylvania. He served in the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II.

2Lt Hunter died on November 15, 1945, near Schweinfurt, Germany. He was killed on the flight from England to Germany. The UC-64 in which he was traveling crashed due to poor weather 20 miles southeast of Schweinfurt, Germany. He is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
