Henry Albert Kaul was born on 9 December 1922 in Forest Park, Cook County, Illinois. He was married to Myrle Viola Johnson Blasius.

1Lt Kaul served in the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on 11 February 1945 when his aircraft (44-63233 'Inky's Dinky') struck trees and crashed while strafing a column of 14 trucks on the AsendorfNienburg road in the county of Graue, Germany. He is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
