                            Harold Lacy Ross, Jr. was born on 3 June 1922 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He served in the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.
On 6 June 1944, 1Lt Ross took off from Station 356 in Debden, England, on a sweep mission to northern France. Around 8:30 PM, his section was strafing a train when they were attacked by fifteen ME-109’s and FW-190’s. 1Lt Ross was shot down and killed in the ensuing action. His plane crashed near Neuborg, France.
He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
