Comments:

Arthur J. Senecal was born on 24 January 1921 in Worcester, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the USAAF on 2 April 1942, training as a Fighter Pilot. Arthur went to serve with the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group.

On 2 January 1945, Arthur was flying a P-51B, 43-6587 QP-Z, when the aircraft was struck in the coolant system shortly after his section engaged and downed two ME-109's. He attempted to nurse his aircraft back over friendly territory, and it is believed that he stayed with the stricken fighter for too long, bailing out moments before it crashed near Niederahr, Germany. He was seen to strike the ground ten yards from the crash, his chute unopened. He is buried in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, Massachusetts. His name is listed on the Anglo-American Memorial in Saffron Walden in England, but his surname is spelled 'Senegal.'
