William Douglas Clarke was born on 24 November 1917 in Berkeley, California. He was the son of Frank C Clarke and Kathryn McCabe Clarke. He served in the 435th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 10, 1944, and is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinoz�, France.
