Jay C. Malone entered military service in North Carolina. He served in the 434th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on 18 April 1945 near Neuberg in P-51 'Queenie-El Diablo' #44-14601. 2Lt Malone is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupr�, Belgium.
